Amherst Chamber Health Insurance Program

We currently serve as the source for the Chamber Health Insurance Program and provide for the healthcare insurance needs of over 250 member businesses. April Williams and Rebecca Eckert from the agency have both served as Chamber Ambassadors, in addition to being involved with managing the healthcare insurance plans enrolled through the Chamber.

Annual Chamber Golf Tournament

Jim Conlon chairs the popular Annual Chamber Golf Tournament held every July at the Hickory Ridge Country Club in Amherst. The event is strongly supported by the local business community and annually contributes an increasing amount of its proceeds to the business education programs at Amherst Regional High School. In 2007, the $4,000 award supported several school field trips, enabled the hospitality course to create a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, and paid for videos and books for the Entrepreneurship Program.

In 2008, two scholarships will be awarded to deserving seniors pursuing business-related studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Health Care Reform Symposium

In June 2007 Jim Conlon developed and co-hosted with the Amherst Chamber a half-day symposium on Health Care Reform in Massachusetts. The event was attended by 75 local businesspeople and was designed to help businesses comply with the new law. Jim maintains a close pulse on the local healthcare environment through his participation as an Advisory Board Member of two major health insurance carriers.

This award will be presented at the Amherst Chamber's 2008 awards dinner to be held on June 5, at the Robert Crown Center at Hampshire College.
